There are seven golf courses in the area. There is no need to drive into Houston to play golf.  There are public and private golf courses.  There are old and new golf courses.  See a description of each below. You have many choices of golf courses in the Katy, Fulshear, Pecan Grove area.  You can live on a golf course in many of these communities. The golf club features an 18-hole, par-71 golf course with a rolling layout that will challenge low handicappers while still offering the average player or beginner the opportunity to play an enjoyable round of golf.  Designer Carlton Gipson's design features a surprising (and pleasing) amount of roll, with several holes home to elevation changes of as much as 15 feet. The elevation changes help ensure an interesting round of golf -- so do some 50 bunkers and water hazards that come into play on 16 holes.  The first class practice facility and driving range is complete with two enormous tees that are always open for practice from grass. West Oaks Village began in 1992.  Twin Oaks began in 2000.  West Oaks is about 20 miles from downtown Houston in the corner of FM 1464 and the Westpark Tollway across from George Bush High School.  West Oaks sales prices in 2011 range from $105,000 to $173,000 with an average of $126,000.  Twin Oaks Village houses range from $85,000 to $189,000 with an average of $123,106.  Twin Oaks has about 1000 homes and West Oaks has approximately 630  homes. Mission Oaks (map) is an extension of West Oaks/Twin Oaks.  It is newer with houses built between 2004 and 2006.  Sale prices range from $91,000 to $153,000 with an average of $114,400 and 2034 sq.ft.

Yes you are near the western edge of Houston, but there is plenty of shopping close by. There is a large shopping center at the Grand Parkway 99 and US 59 with an HEB supermarket. There is a Kroger supermarket near alt US 90 and 99 just south of FM 1464. This area of Telfair is developing into many shops and restaurants. Another large shopping center with a Kroger supermarket is located at US 59 and FM 762 in the edge of Rosenberg. A Kroger supermarket is located where Westhiemer joins the Westpark tollway and FM 1464. Numerous shops and restaurants are to be found along State Highway 6 First Colony Mall has a huge complex of shops and restaurants on US 59 between Sweetwater and SH 6. Yes you are near the western edge of Houston, but there is plenty of shopping close by. There is a large shopping center at the Grand Parkway 99 and US 59 with an HEB supermarket. There is a Kroger supermarket near alt US 90 and 99 just south of FM 1464. This area of Telfair is developing into many shops and restaurants. Another large shopping center with a Kroger supermarket is located at US 59 and FM 762 in the edge of Rosenberg. A Kroger supermarket is located where Westhiemer joins the Westpark tollway and FM 1464. Numerous shops and restaurants are to be found along State Highway 6 First Colony Mall has a huge complex of shops and restaurants on US 59 between Sweetwater and SH 6. Additonally there are numerous shops and restaurants outside of the mall near the new "downtown" Sugar Land.
