Pecan Grove Plantation, The Grove and Plantation Place are generally known as Pecan Grove, Richmond, Tx. Pecan Grove was started in 1977 as a 1400 acre master planned community built around a golf course in a naturally wooded area out in the country.  Pecan Grove Country Club and golf course features a 27 hole golf course . Pecan Grove is built out with about 2700 homes. The Pecan Grove area has great access to Houston job markets with several alternate commuting routes. The Grand Parkway 99 connects to I-10, the Westpark Tollway, US 90A and freeway US 59 south. Pecan Grove is not a part of a city although it is close to Richmond, Tx. Pecan Grove MUD provides water, sewer, drainage, levee system and parks. Pecan Grove Park is a large park on Pitts Road that features, baseball, football, soccer, sand volleyball, playground, restrooms, picnic tables, picnic pavilion and Frisbee golf. Other parks are Belin Park on Farmer Road, Plantation Memorial Park on Plantation and a park on Old Colony. A several mile long jogging trail is the top of the flood protection levee that sourrounds Pecan Grove.
The area around Pecan Grove is generally called Pecan Grove. The other subdivisions are Pecan Lakes, Waterside Estates, Texana Plantation, Rio Vista, Rivers Edge, Waterview, Fieldstone and Long Meadow Farms. It consists of about 13,551 people in 4,516 households. Median family income was $91,059 in 2000. Pecan Grove Schools

Two school districts serve Pecan Grove with majority of homes in Pecan Grove Plantation being in Fort Bend Ind. School District: Pecan Grove Elementary School, James Bowie Middle School and Travis High School. Lamar Consolidated ISD schools are Austin Elementary School, Wessendorff Middle School, Lamar Consolidated Junior High School, Lamar Consolidated High School (www.lcisd.org). A Wharton County Junior College trade school is located in Richmond. WCJC and the University of Houston have a joint campus closeby on west side of Sugar Land.
